Howard Rohm

Howard Rohm is President and CEO of the Balanced Scorecard Institute and Founder of the Strategy Management Group, Inc., the Institute's parent company. He is a performance management trainer, consultant, and technologist with over 40 years' experience. Howard has helped dozens of organizations worldwide build balanced scorecard and other performance planning and management systems.
Howard developed the Institute's Nine Steps to Success scorecard methodology, and his award-winning balanced scorecard and performance management systems have been adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives (Chief Administrative Officer), several offices of the United Nations, the American Public Gas Association, Centex Construction, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Spectrum Partners, Greenville Utility Commission, LifeNet, the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force, Household Mortgage Services, the Joint Interagency Task Force-East, Amiri Flight (United Arab Emirates), Mecklenburg County (NC), the Canada Passport Office, the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Service, and many other organizations. He developed the Institute's Nine Steps to Success framework, and has trained over 3000 people in 20 countries.
Howard is a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT), a Certified Strategic Management Professional (SMP) Pioneer, and an e-learning certified instructor. He co-wrote, with three others, the Strategic Planning Resource Center's Association for Strategic Planning SMP/SPP/SPA Certification Exam Study Guide. He is a winner of a team Hammer Award for his work on government performance reform (given by Vice-President Al Gore's National Partnership for Reinventing Government), and received a Presidential "1000 Points of Light" award for community service from First Lady Barbara Bush at a White House ceremony. He recently was awarded a Triangle (Raleigh, NC) Top 50 Entrepreneur award by Business Leader magazine. Howard helped create the Association for Strategic Planning's Body of Knowledge for professional strategic planning and management certification.
Larry Halbach

Larry Halbach is the Executive Vice President of the Balanced Scorecard Institute. He is a performance management consultant and technologist who brings a comprehensive set of executive leadership, planning, and implementation skills to his clients. With over 25 years experience in consulting, executive and management roles, he has helped numerous organizations with balanced scorecard development and implementation, strategic planning, information technology, operations management, merger/integration planning, and project management. Larry has lead balanced scorecard engagements with the Canada Passport Office, LifeNet, Habitat for Humanity, LukOil (Russia), and Purdue University.
Larry began his career at IBM in Endicott, New York. He managed IBM's technical consultants for customers of all sizes and industries, including Bank One, Ohio State University, and the State of Ohio. He then joined the Indianapolis Life Insurance Company and led that organization to new levels of efficiency and effectiveness. He increased sales by 65% and dramatically reduced the time to market of new products. He was instrumental in the implementation of the balanced scorecard, which caused greater alignment among managers and enabled employees to clearly understand how they could positively affect results. As Senior Vice President of Planning & e-Business, he led the development of a merger/integration plan which resulted in annual savings of $10 million.
Daniel J. Montgomery

Dan is Director of Innovation for the Balanced Scorecard Institute. An accomplished facilitator and trainer, Dan has a 30 year background as a manager, management consultant and executive coach. His previous professional consulting experience includes work with Accenture and Ernst & Young. He has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including technology, energy and telecommunication utilities, natural products, financial services, government, construction and health care.
In addition to strategic planning and balanced scorecard development, his experience includes: stakeholder engagement and facilitation; development of "triple bottom line" business models; software selection and implementation, and executive coaching. He has been certified in the use of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Framework, which integrates environmental and social performance into corporate reporting.
